Spanish and Barcelona star Bonmatí wins the Ballon d'Or Féminin.

Aitana Bonmat, a midfielder for Barcelona and Spain, has won the Ballon d'Or Féminin for her outstanding performance in 2018.

At 25 years old, Bonmatí played a pivotal role in guiding Barcelona to victory in Liga F and the Champions League last season. She then went on to lead Spain to World Cup triumph during the summer.

She won the Player of the Tournament award in Down Under, and she is the reigning UEFA Women's Player of the Year. Bonmati bested Australian forward Sam Kerr and Spanish winger Salma Paralluelo to win the Ballon d'Or.

Everyone who was nominated has my highest praise. Great and motivational footballers they all are. We have a duty as role models to set a good example both on and off the field. There's more to us than just being athletes. After accepting the prize, Bonmat remarked, "Keep setting an example and keep fighting together for a better, peaceful, and equal world."
